Role
Product Designer · UX/UI
Collaboration
Worked with UX leadership and the engineering lead to review scope and technical feasibility.
Constraint
B2B white-label product with no direct access to end users.
03

The challenge

The trading platform was offered to financial institutions as a B2B white-label solution. Discussions with UX leadership and the engineering lead highlighted the needs of investors moving from trading to tracking long-term goals.

Without native rebalancing, portfolio management depended on spreadsheets or external services. The challenge was to incorporate this capability while accounting for the platform’s complexity and limited access to users.

Design decisions

Adapt discovery to access constraints

Why it mattered
The product was a B2B white-label solution offered to investors through financial institutions. As a result, I had no direct access to end users.
What I did
I analyzed spreadsheets, StatusInvest and SmarttInvest, organized usage scenarios and aligned requirements with UX and engineering. These inputs helped shape the design, though they did not replace user testing.

Separate portfolio management from trading

Why it mattered
The trading screen already contained dense information and many actions.
What I did
I designed a dedicated rebalancing space with charts comparing current allocation and investment goals.

Support both onboarding and ongoing use

Why it mattered
The experience needed to cover both initial access and recurring tasks.
What I did
I mapped onboarding, existing portfolio import and ongoing management. Together with the engineering lead, I designed the “Invest available funds” feature.

Core workflows

The solution covers onboarding, portfolio imports, and ongoing management.

Portfolio management within the platform

The design brings portfolio tracking and adjustment planning into the trading platform.

Alignment with engineering

Scope decisions were discussed with UX leadership and the engineering lead throughout the project.

Lessons learned

Research under constraints

Benchmarking and usage scenarios helped structure the proposal within limits on user access.

Consider feasibility throughout design

Engineering collaboration informed feature definition and business rules.

Designing for distinct tasks

Portfolio management received its own experience within a platform also built for trading.
